Culinary Enrichment Club
After School Program
Culinary arts remain one of the most underrepresented art forms in schools today.
Chef Shibumi is deeply passionate about introducing the youth to the world of culinary arts and sustainable sourcing. She seeks to teach students the foundations of classic techniques, richness of global flavors, and offer a unique avenue for creativity and self-expression. This isn’t just about cooking—it’s an immersive art experience and a pathway to vocational education, inspiring the next generation to see food as both a craft and an art form. Chef Shibumi's Culinary Enrichment Club is a tuition-free program based in Brownsville, Brooklyn. This unique opportunity offers students the ability to explore and develop their culinary talents in a supportive and creative environment.
Enrollment is quarterly, with each three-month course designed to align with the seasons. The weekly schedule is as follows:
Monday: Chef Office Hours (2:30 PM - 4:30 PM)
Tuesday: Class for ages 6-11 (2:30 PM - 4:30 PM)
Thursday: Class for ages 12-18 (2:30 PM - 4:30 PM)
The program focuses on New American cuisine, modern cooking techniques, the art of fine dining, and sophisticated plating. At the conclusion of each season, students showcase their skills by hosting a pop-up dinner party for parents, donors, and community leaders. This club is more than a cooking class—it's a space where future culinary professionals can flourish. In addition to culinary arts, students gain experience in hospitality, event planning, food photography, content creation, project management, and entrepreneurship. Chef Shibumi's Culinary Enrichment Club is shaping the next generation of innovators in the culinary and hospitality industries.
